Side effects of DPT vaccine?

• 2 to 6% of vaccines develop fever of 39°C or higher.
• 5 to 10% experience swelling and induration or pain lasting quite 48 hrs.
• The most severe complications are neurologic ( encephalitis, encephalopathy, prolonged convulsions, infantile spasms and reye’syndrme).
• Contraindicated are severe serious illness and shock like state, temperature above 40°C, serious hypersensitivity etc.
• Protective efficacy 95 – 100% for Diphtheria, Tetanus and 70 – 90% for pertussis.
